COMPLETED DEC 2025 • EAST MESA

SPARKS IN THE DESERT:
Majestic On-Site Welded
Kennel + Catio

Turning a sloped backyard into a 300+ sq ft pet sanctuary — welded entirely on-site.

Finished dog kennel catio at dusk

In East Mesa’s brutal heat, we built more than a kennel — a real desert oasis for dogs and cats, fully custom-welded on location.

THE VISION

Lower level with stairs

Sloped pad + stucco wall + big mesquite tree = perfect constraints. We used them.

Goal: 300+ sq ft, two levels, full mesh roof, stairs, bombproof welds — even on-site welding.

ON-SITE WELDING: WHERE THE MAGIC (AND SPARKS) HAPPENED

Fabricated and welded in place. No shop pre-fab. No delivery truck. Just me, my Lincoln Electric welder, a grinder, a level, and a whole lot of 0.030" wire. The stucco wall wasn’t perfectly straight. The concrete had cracks. The roof plane had to follow the existing patio lines. On-site welding was the only way to make it perfect.

BREAKDOWN OF THE BUILD — EVERY DETAIL

PHASE 01 • FOUNDATION & LOWER LEVEL

Gravel base, stairs, and the first gates

  • 02 Pre-existing concrete stairs integrated perfectly
  • 03 1"×1" 14-gauge welded wire mesh panels
Lower gravel area with open gate and stairs
Covered patio section with corrugated roof and open gate
PHASE 02 • UPPER DECK & ROOF GRID

The sky is the limit

The entire roof is a massive 1"×2" galvanized wire grid supported by custom-welded 2" square tube rafters. Dogs can watch hawks, roadrunners, and stars while staying 100% contained.

PHASE 03 • FINAL ASSEMBLY

THE FINAL MASTERPIECE — EVERY FEATURE

The dog and cat have already claimed every square inch. They run the full length, climb the stairs, bask under the mesquite, and stare at the sunset through the roof grid like it’s their own private movie theater.
